Governor Donates N1million To Family Of Corper Who Died In Zamfara


The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has supported the family of Ukeme Monday Asuquo, a first class graduate of Petroleum Engineering, who died during the mandatory orientation of the National Youth Services Corps (NYSC) in Zamfara State.
Speaking during the funeral service conducted for the departed corp member at his home town, Ikot Udo Otto, the governor who was represented by Comrade Otobong Akpan, Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Affairs, he said, “it is with deep sorrow and shock that the Government and people of Akwa Ibom State learnt of the untimely demise of the cerebral Mr. Ukeme Monday Asuquo who until his demise was a serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Scheme.
”At this unfortunate dark time, we offer you our thoughts, prayers and condolences. It is important to be reminded that the greatest compliment to a passing companion is to keep their memories alive.
We understand Ukeme was committed to a life of responsibility and academic excellence, may we be strengthened and assisted to carry on with the very virtues that genuinely pleased him, and which would continue to reverberate the legendary and iconic principles of a man who was in a class of his own”.
Governor Udom Emmanuel, then donated N1 million to the bereaved family to offset medial bills for the deceased’s mother and also announced the endowment of a scholarship for the educational pursuit of Ukeme’s younger brother.
