Iyanya officially launched his Mavin career today, October 31, 2016 with his first single on the label, Up 2 Sumtin, a track where he revealed his feelings about his split with erstwhile partner, Ubi Franklin.
The singer reflects on the broken promises and unfulfilled dreams he had with his long-time friend and partner who forced him out of Triple MG, a company he co-founded after their relationship became frosty.
Although, Iyanya’s move to MAVIN took everyone by surprise as it was expected that he would start another label from the scratch, the move is hailed in many quarters as an inspired one as the artiste is in good company with the Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage and Dr. Sid of this world.
Iyanya, in apparent reference to Ubi in the first line of the new single reminisced on the promises they shared about growing together and becoming great together, hinting once again that it was never his desire to leave MMMG in the first place.
